My passion for Rock Climbing/Scrambling and Mountain Biking put me on the path to work as an outdoor instructor in Outward Bound Scotland for 4 years. During this time I guided groups of individuals around the Scottish Highlands and coasts, introducing new hard skills and developing teamwork using the environment.
Some of the adventures at Outward Bound include 1 week sea-kayak expeditions along the Scottish west coast, 3 week foot-based expeditions with 4 days open-boating, and training a group for their silver Duke of Edinburgh.
Competing in two local (Fort William) triathlons and coming 2nd (team) in the 'No Fuss' triathlon, I decided to continue with racing when I headed south.
I took up endurance cross-country mountain biking, completing two specialised challenge events, coming 4th solo at the Marin Trail 07. I also competed in the 08 solo 'Ten under the Ben' and 07+08 solo 'Ten under Kirroughtree' at which I achieved 13th position in 08.
Having increased my training recently and enjoying the XC/fell running scene I decided to get into AR. |
