I started riding MTB’s as so many people did in the early nineties, and raced though the age groups until I finished uni in 2000. After graduating in Sports Science, I worked for The Edge Cycleworks and set up their successful race team. As a member of The Edge I have produced my best results and had the opportunity to experience racing aboard in France and Spain. I became Welsh National Mountain Bike Champion in 2000 and finished with a bronze medal in the Welsh National Cyclo-Cross Championships. I finished second overall in the NAMBS and the NW mountain bike series in 2001, as well as collecting victories; on the road, closed circuit and in a hill climb. I then took a break from the sport to complete teacher training and further my coaching skills and soon found myself Adventure Racing. I’ve raced in various teams and male pairs, before taking 2005 off to travel. I’m now based at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester as a coach for British Cycling working with riders across the North West. I’ll be racing with Team Merrell-Mountain Hardware in Ace Races, Rat Races and Open Adventure’s, this year and I’m really looking forward to the events, the team, the highs and the smiles ahead.
