Tragedy in Mexico
By Susan McKenzie

Eduardo Delgado Rosas, 41, of the Mexican team Mexico Explora, drowned on the Laguna Azeteca at the start of the second stage of the race, Thursday afternoon.

The weather was clear and hot, the water was calm and the security boats were out. His body was recovered Friday evening, but authorities still do not know the cause of death. He was a very strong swimmer and was not complaining of pain or problems prior to the race.

This morning, Saturday morning, prior to the start of the third and final stage, a brief ceremony and emotional minute of silence was held in El Chico. His teammates, Carlos Cabello and Arturo Blacio asked that the race continue in his honour.

We will keep you posted on this and other stories at EAH as they develop. We are now back in contact with the internet and will provide further details on Montrail's victory (Nike ACG Balance Bar second and Sole Custom Footbeds third) soon.
