A Rush of Teams Completes The Masters Podium

It was a close race for the final podium spot in the Masters race but ‘Sue and The Powerpuff Girls’ managed to hold onto their third place – just. Lars Bukkehave of the Powerpuff Girls) was still in his saddle when the next team came in (though he had already acquired a plate of food).
Despite a costly mistake the mixed Danish/Swedish team had been clear in third place for much of the final third of the race but a developing battle between the two teams behind them closed the gap.
Swedish team KMTI Adventure had been 4th for much of the race but were gradually closed down by Team Exploring Denmark in the later stages of the race and for the last 30 minutes the team were side by side. And right at the end it was the Danish team who managed to take 4th by just a couple of minutes.
Johan Lidstrom of KMTI said on the finish line; “That was just intense! I think we were riding at the same pace but they took a better route choice to the checkpoint in the old WW2 bunker and it was that which made the difference.”
All 3 teams were gathered on the finish at dusk (with Challenge teams still finishing alongside them) and organisers had managed to get first and second placed teams there as well for a presentation.
And with 10,000 Euro in prizes it was a presentation with some big cheques, which you don’t see very often at AR races outside of China these days.
