After all the excitement of the YACS Challenge and Fighter courses taking place in Silkeborg, and the arrival of the first 5 Masters course finishers in the afternoon ,there was a long vigil through the night to await the final masters course team to finish.

The course was due to close after 60 hours, so 6am was the official deadline, and with just 25 minutes to spare Team AaA/IHS rode across the finish line. They arrived just after sunset having completed the course in 59 hours 35 minutes with a team which was a last minute combination of two others, so they had never raced together before.

The other full course completion during the night was the unranked team MM1 Copenhagen, who started the race as a team of 3 after a last minute withdrawal of their 4th team member.  They had fashioned a seat so they could paddle with 3 in a single boat for the final canoe stage, and crossed the line in the early hours of the morning with a time of 55 hours 10 minutes.

The remaining teams on the course retired on the 3rd night of the race as they were running out of time (and energy) to make it to the finish line.  Visiting French team ASL Raid Chatenayhas decided to stop after the long trekking stage, an easy decision for them as they were not going to put on inline skates again!

Cyril Margaritis had taken a big fall on the first skating stage and raced with a black eye, a missing filling and some very sore ribs for almost all of the competition. The team were not going to risk another try in their tired state and had fallen too far behind to make the finish. (They have a long drive home to France as well so needed some sleep before setting off.)

This left the final results of Denmark’s first ever European Series event as follows;

  1. Team Yeti                                                43.40
  2. Racing Denmark Adventures                      48.17
  3. Sue & the Powerpuff Girls                          50.19
  4. Team Exploring Denmark                           50.26.00
  5. KMTI Adventure (Sweden)                          50.26.50
  6. AaA/IHS                                                   59.35
