Team Composition and Fees

Teams will be comprised of two (2) or four (4) individuals. Same gender or Co-ed teams will be accepted. Due to the nature of the region, there will not be a solo category for this event. A minimum 24 registered racers will be required for this event to take place. Any team registering for this race will be refunded their entry fee if the minimum racer number is not met by January 15, 2017.

Early registration price: $200.00 per person

Late registration price: $250.00 per person

Grab your team and shake off the winter blahs in the Mojave Desert! Race HQ, based at the Tropicana Casino and Hotel in Laughlin, NV, sits 90 minutes from McCarron Airport in Las Vegas. 30-hour teams will be able to check-in, attend the expo and mingle with the expedition length teams on February 3. Race day check-in will be limited and we ask that teams arrange to arrive on Friday prior to the pre-race meeting and map giving at 6:00 pm.

Make sure to allocate a few days after the race to take in the sights and sounds of Las Vegas’s nightlife, catch sunset and hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and marvel at the massive Hoover Dam. Natural hot springs dot the area and adventure racing recovery is much more relaxing poolside! The area is family friendly should an entire holiday be planned.

Keeping with the Happy Mutant goal of providing Affordable, Accessible Adventure this region fits the bill perfectly. It is relatively inexpensive to fly into Las Vegas’s McCarron International Airport from any place in the world. Just outside the city limits lie an abundance of land begging for the outdoor adventurer to come play on. Wide-open land for cross country travel, massive lakes and the Colorado River that formed the western landscape into the spectacle draws millions of visitors annually will all play vital roles during this adventure.

The Tropicana Laughlin will serve as the event host and is offering a special rate of $39.99/night for all teams and spectators. There will be a vendor expo during check-in registration for those last minute race needs. We will have CO2 inflation cartridges, bear spray and other items not permitted to fly for sale as well.. Expect a wide temperature range with low’s in the 40’s F and highs into the mid 70’s. Teams should be prepared for windy conditions as well.

2-person teams will be limited to one (1) 45-gallon gear bin. 4-person teams will be limited to two (2) 35-gallon gear bins.
