Length: 72 hours
Location: Carson National Forest
With the World Champs just a few weeks away, the Rio Grande AR Challenge will be the perfect final tune-up for your team. This multi-day North American Adventure Racing Series event, set in one of the country's best kept adventure secrets, provides a topography, climate and discipline range on par with what we will be faced with during the ARWC.
Lush forest land, high desert heat, breathtaking views and lung punishing altitude await you during the Happy Mutant Adventure Race Series’s stop in New Mexico. Teams of two/four will spend the better part of three days in, and around, the Carson National Forest. With 300+ miles of mountain bike, trekking and white water to cover competitors will face the late spring climate changes that occur between 6,000 and 12,000 feet of elevation.
Plan on spending time in both guided rafts and two-person inflatable kayaks for almost 37 miles of Class II-IV white water. Step into your harnesses for 400 feet of rappelling. On the trekking sections alone you will experience 50,000 feet of elevation gain! The mountain bike sections will come close to equaling that total as well…simple math calculations add up to around 100,000 feet of combined elevation gain and loss!!!
Trekking, trail running, mountain biking, moving water paddle, ropes, navigation.
