GODZone is an annual, multi-day, non-stop, expedition-style adventure race held in New Zealand each year. The event is the largest expedition-length adventure race in the world and widely regarded as the best. Registration for the 2018 event opens to teams of four on the 1st of June 2017 with entry secured by submitting the online entry form located on the Enter Now page. Entries to GODZone are limited and a team entry can’t be guaranteed.
The next installment of GODZone will be known as Chapter 7 – Fiordland. The event will be hosted by World Heritage Status and internationally acclaimed Fiordland National Park and the wider Southland District, which is located at the southern end of the South Island of New Zealand. The host venue will be the stunning lakeside town of Te Anau, gateway to Fiordland and Milford Sound. Whilst GODZone is a race, it is also a journey and adventure, with teams traversing some of New Zealand’s most stunning landscapes with a logical pathway from start to finish.
Chapter 7 – Fiordland follows the pattern of the previous two Chapters in that it will be made up of two separate events running under the one GODZone umbrella – GZ Pure and GZ Pursuit. The GZ Pure event runs for 10 days and teams will be ‘unsupported’. This means GZ Pure teams do not require a support crew with organisers moving all equipment and gear boxes around the course as necessary. The GZ Pursuit event runs for 10 days but teams will be ‘supported’. This means that GZ Pursuit teams need to provide a support crew. Details about support crew requirements will be released in the Newsletters. In both events all kayaks, canoes and certain other key items of equipment will be provided by the organisers.
