Utö is where the whole swimrun movement started and where a late night bet was made. It is an island in the southern part of the Stockholm archipelago almost 90 minutes from Stockholm. It is an island with a year-round population and with a great hotel, Utö Värdshus – our home away from home. In the end of May you can detect the beginning of summer, most of the years. Flowers are blooming, the grass is green and trees are coming to life after a long winter.

The island of Utö has been populated for many centuries and was a booming mining community several hundreds of years ago. Lithium was found here for the first time. The island has everything; beautiful forests, cliffs, open pasture land, big hills, rough water and very protected waters.

The weather in this period can really be anything from a nice summer day to a cold, hard day out. Be mentally prepared for the worst and enjoy the best. The water is clear and crisp with some sections around 10 degrees C, therefore none of the swim sections are very long. Dress smart!

Sprint

The ÖTILLÖ Sprint Utö will follow some sections of the World Series event and then loop back to the finish.

A total distance of 13,3 km, with 8 runs and 7 swims. No swim will be longer than 400 metres and all swims are protected. The runs are beautiful; some on trail, some on rocks and some with a lot of people around.

The sprint race is the day before ÖTILLÖ Swimrun Utö and it is a way for you to be part of the whole swimrun weekend! The winners of each team category will get a free entry to an ÖTILLÖ Qualifier of choice for the following year.

SOLO

Sometimes your partner is sick or injured or you can not find someone to participate with you. We are giving you the option to participate in either the Sprint or the Experience distance as an individual.
