An amazing human and sports journey across the beautiful French Alps awaits competitors in the new Sud Raid next year.

Teams of 4 adventurers will start the journey from Veynes (Hautes-Alpes, France) on Monday 22nd August 2021 and be back in the same place after 72/96 hours and 400 kilometers of non-stop adventure racing.

On the way they will have to face many challenges thanks to 10 different sports like mountain biking, trekking, kayaking, potholing, climbing, mountaineering, swim-running, rollerblading, and maybe few more little surprises!

As real explorers, all these disciplines will be 100% self-navigated with IGN and IOF maps only (no GPS systems or exterior help). The organization will move the team bags and storage boxes onto each transition area, similar to ARWS competitions. The Hautes-Alpes' landscapes will connect the teams with nature and give them all the strength they need to complete their own race story.

For the organizers the main idea has not been to create the hardest race ever, though they say; “For sure, it will be not the easiest one!”  Teams can register in 3 categories: The General which is only for mixed teams, as well as Female and Male classifications.  The winner will receive 5000€, and the second placed team 2000€.

To show the adventures of the teams and to discover the richness and diversity of the Hautes-Alpes, a TV show will broadcast 4 episodes on "La chaine L’Equipe", channel 21 of national French TV, the first 100% sport channel in France.

For the first edition of the Sud Raid Adventure Race early bird registrations are open until January 31st, 2021 and standard registrations until July 12, 2021.  There is already a strong entry, with many of the strongest French teams taking part, and you can see the team list on the race website, which is in both French and English.
