International Adventure Racing Association Up and Running

Press Release / 06.03.2024

At the end of last year, the sport of Adventure Racing established its own international body to bring all Adventure Racing countries together and help develop the sport all over the world.

Now the International Adventure Racing Association (IARA) can announce their website, committee members and plans for what will be an exciting year for adventure racing.

“The time has come, in our hyper-connected world, to officially bring the international adventure racing community together under its own association,” says Chairperson Cormac MacDonnell from Ireland. “We have assembled an excellent group of experienced and passionate adventure racers from around the world to establish the new association and to work on a number of important projects in the areas of safety, sustainability and regulations for the sport”.

The group recently got its website (www.internationaladventureracing.org) and social media profiles (@internationaladventureracing) off the ground and look forward to keeping everyone up-to-date through these channels.

2024 is set to be a great year for the sport, with the new association working with the Adventure Racing community, the fabulous story of Arthur the Adventure Racing dog coming to cinema screens in March, and a fantastic calendar of races planned around the world.

The film ‘Arthur the King’, starring Mark Wahlberg will soon be on cinema screens. “This movie puts Adventure Racing into the public spotlight, and we can expect to see many people looking for more information about our sport and how to get into it,” says IARA Administrator Lisa de Speville from South Africa.  The movie has a release date of 15 March 2024 and all are encouraged to go along to enjoy it with family and adventure racing friends.

The International Adventure Racing Association (IARA) is supported by 21 adventure racing associations and communities around the world and can be found online at www.internationaladventureracing.org.
