III DesafÃo Bugarent-Gran Premio Concello de As Pontes
Five teams battle for the lead throughout the race...

On Saturday June 23rd, at 8:30 am, 44 teams set out on the III DesafÃo Bugarent-Gran Premio Concello de As Pontes adventure race. Points from this race count towards the Spanish League as well as the Galicia Cup competitions. Teams came from all over Spain, as well as from Portugal and Finland: 18 in the Elite category and 26 in the Adventure category.Good weather and pleasant temperatures accompanied the teams throughout the weekend.
The first stage consisted of an urban traverse, through the streets of As Pontes, in which teams could visit the control points in any order they chose. The first teams completed this in about 20 minutes.
Next, they mounted their bikes to undertake a tough, 49 km mountain biking route that would take them through the imposing countryside of Serra Faladoira and Coriscada, to arrive at Mañón where they would encounteer the next transition. Throughout this stage, the teams started to separate: Buff-Coolmax took a ten minute lead over the next two teams, Salomon and Teva-La Pinilla, who arrived together.
