Aventura Xperience Expedition Race
New Expedition Race and Festival in Spain
Press Release / 05.02.2017
Aventura Xperience in Catalonia have been organising races for 6 years now and for 2017 have stepped it up to stage a new expedition length race.
The race is part of the Aventura Xperience Festival, which takes place from Oct. 12th-15th in Caldes de Mallavela (Girona). Included in the programme are a 3 hour rogaine, a 3 hour Mountain Bike Orienteering Challenge and a 50km Raid, a 150km Adventure Race and top of the bill is the new expedition race, which is also the Catalonian championships and unusually is for teams of 3.
The region has a strong adventure racing pedigree and established teams like EusCat Raid, Raid Aran Trangoworld and the current title holders the TwoNav Terres de l’Ebre team. There will be strong teams from other regions of Spain too, and probably from France as the race takes place near the French border (close to Barcelona).
The main prize for the expedition race is a free entry to the next Raid Aran and teams will race over 300km with 7,000m of elevation gain. With over a third of the Girona region classified as a protected natural area the competitors will be racing through mountainous massifs, lakes, rivers and wetlands, and along the beaches, coves and cliffs of the mediterranean coast.
