In July 11.-21. Nordic Islands Adventure Race "Valhalla" will take its competitors on an epic 700km journey from Åre in Sweden to Ålesund in Norway. Along the way, athletes will cross the international border, Scandinavian mountain range, countless gorgeous valleys as well as number of truly spectacular fjords. This will be a race like no other and here is why:
This year's edition will be unique in many ways but the most obvious one must be the location. Scandinavia is an incredible place and this race will truly celebrate its beauty. Competitors will pass through couple of well-known locations as well as some incredibly wild places where you will have to remind yourself that you are still in Europe!
Also, the course is set so far north that during this time of the year there will be very little darkness and most importantly: get ready for hours and hours of the most incredible sunsets and sunrises! This will give this race a completely unique vibe and so competitors are in for memories for a lifetime!
As custom for the Nordic Islands races, the race course follows an epic story and this time once again, athletes will follow footsteps of the mighty Vikings. Their courage to always continue towards to horizon no matter what obstacle might be ahead - is exactly what competitors will feel during Nordic Islands Adventure Race "Valhalla".
With the overall vertical meters count over 16.000, it is clear that this will a tough race. However, this course will be so spectacular that athletes will basically stay in aww most of the time so the uphills will feel much easier. Also, keep in mind the very short nights - less darkness equals faster moving teams!
