After the successful fifth edition of the spectacular mountain bike race, which took place this summer, the organisers of the classic through the South Tyrolean mountains have set the date for next year's edition. The Kronplatz King 2022 will take place on 3 September; and on an adapted route.
Last year's last-minute change to the route promptly turned out to be an unexpected wow experience, so that the "new" part of the route towards Fojedöra, including the single trail, will once again be part of the route for the 2022 edition. The adjustments will make the route shorter with a total length of only 64 kilometres, but it will bring a clear experience plus due to the elimination of the extremely steep climb at the Alpenlift and the extension of the freeride segment at the Furcia trail.
"With the changes, we are not only responding to the wish of many participants to make this year's alternative route the official route. The new route also offers significantly more riding fun, an even more beautiful panorama and significantly more opportunities to take a deep breath," explains OC head Maurizio Kastlunger.
All participants can also look forward to a valuable starter package next year. In addition to a Parentini cycling jersey, personalised water bottles will be available. In addition, Kastlunger is pleased that there will be no price increase for the Kronplatz King 2022. Free Covid-19 tests would be provided, should they still be needed next year.
The online registration for the race in the Puster Valley opens on 1 December 2021 and offers reduced entry fees for early bookers.
From 1 December to 31 December 2021, the registration for the only mountain bike marathon with eight kilometres of freeride descents, a single trail section of nine kilometres and a mountain finish at an altitude of 2,275 m will cost just €70 and therefore €20 less than last minute registrations for either distance.
In addition, everyone who has once participated in the Kronplatz King event will receive a special discount of € 20 if they re-register by 31 March 2022. The code will be shared by dropping a line to mtb@kronplatzking.com.
For the sixth edition of the Kronplatz King, mountain bikers once again have the option of either tackling the "KINGMarathon" with a length of 64 km and 3,150 metres of climbing or trying their hand at the "PRINCEClassic" route with a length of 49 km and 2,150 metres of climbing.
