6th TOUR Transalp Starts in Brixen on Sunday

Next Sunday, the 16th TOUR Transalp will start for the first time in its history in Italy. At 8:30 AM, Europe's biggest stage race for hobby cyclists will kick off on the cathedral square of Brixen. From 24 to 30 June, 2018, several hundred teams of two will cover 927.70 km and 17,797 metres of climbing through the Eastern Alps until they finally reach the finish in Riva del Garda.
On its way to Lake Garda, the peloton which features racers from about 30 different countries will stop in St. Vigil, Sillian, Fiera di Primiero, Crespano del Grappa, Trento and Kaltern am See.
About half of the field comes from Germany, but Swiss athletes, Austrians and Belgians are also strongly represented. The international flair is provided by participants from the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Brazil, South Africa and New Zealand, who have all embarked on long journeys to experience the adventure of their lives along the southern main ridge of the Alps.
Besides classics such as the Gardena Pass, the unique Drei Zinnen right in the heart of the Sexten Dolomites or Mount Grappa and the Manghen Pass, cyclists will also experience highlights such as the Giau Pass or the Valico di Valbona and therefore again the cultural, sportingly and scenic roller coaster of impressions that has made the TOUR Transalp famous worldwide.
