The Adventure continues!
Together, we have now spent a decade exploring the wildest side of Patagonia, and there have been ten consecutive editions of the PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE. We have lived experiences at the limit of what is humanly possible; we have felt with awe and sometimes with anguish, the wild forces of nature. At the same time, we discovered an astonishing territory. Surprising for the majesty of its geography and the untouched purity of the landscape, a place where we can have a deep interaction with nature. These were unique and intense experiences that have marked our lives.
We are now at the beginning of a new stage, a stage of consolidation that will be based on the experiences of all these years. With each edition we have been making adjustments to improve all aspects implied by an event of this magnitude and format. We will progress continuously, with special consideration to the experience and safety of athletes who face this challenge every year. At the same time though, we maintain our commitment and responsibility to protect the wild spirit of PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE. We maintain its authentic expedition format. We will continue to design and explore new routes in Patagonia, where we still have so much to discover!
The registration and selection process of teams for the 2013 PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE will open on Friday June 15th, 2012. The start of the race is scheduled for Tuesday February 12th, 2013.
I thank everyone who has joined us on this long journey, from the athletes representing 28 countries who have crossed the world to get to this corner of the globe, to the companies and organizations as well as thousands of people who in one way or another, have joined us in this project. PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE – beyond sport and personal experience – seeks to draw global attention to Patagonia and generate awareness of the importance of preserving this natural heritage of humanity for future generations.
Even in these difficult times, when economies have gone from one crisis to another, together we have all managed to consolidate a world class event, absolutely unique, authentic in character and spirit, which succeeds in reaching the world through the magic of its scenery and the power of the experiences and emotions of the participants. I invite you to continue dreaming of Patagonia, I invite you to continue your involvement and to being a part of the PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE, The Last Wild Race!
