Red Bull Defiance is made up of six key stages spread over 2 days. There are also a couple of special skill stages that take place; one on day 1 and another on day 2. Each day has a run, bike and kayak as it’s core activity but the relative difficulty of each is different on each day. There is no doubt that day 2 is the most physically demanding, but how you ‘race’ day 1 will have a profound impact on how good you feel for day 2. The course navigates through 8 high country stations providing unique access to some of New Zealand’s most stunning and varied terrain. Those teams that make it to the finish will be able to reflect on the challenge, the intensity and the reward of completing an epic 2 day adventure race against the backdrop of the Southern Alps.
