Baw Baw Extreme is going to be the racing highlight of the year with a brand new course set in the spectacular and challenging terrain of Baw Baw National Park, located just 2-hour drive from Melbourne.
The 84 km race is set to be challenging, demanding and spectacular, starting from Walhalla, a historical gold mining town. Hidden in the steep Stringers Creek valley, the course will veer down to the mighty Thompson River for an exciting 14 km paddle leg. Next will be a mountain bike section, which will follow minor 4WD roads and railway trail to Erica town, the dedicated mountain bike loop bringing you to the start of a running section.
The 25 km run, set along iconic Australian Walking Track will take you through one of the most spectacular sections, covering several scenic sites such as Mushroom rocks, Erica Summit and Mt St Phillack, before reaching another highlight - Baw Baw Alpine Resort viewing point, where the long-awaited finish line will be located at an elevation of 1500 meters.
There are two racing options to choose from:
-One Day Solo race, for the toughest racers; and
-Two Day, more achievable format, with an overnight stop in the middle of the mountain bike leg in Erica town. The Two Day course is available as well, in Solo, AR Duo, Relay, Solo and Duo packraft categories.
Friday the 17th of April is registration day on the mountain. Saturday is the race day for Solo competitors and Saturday and Sunday are the racing days for Two Day competitors, with the presentation commencing at lunchtime on Sunday.
Not only double Adventure Cup ranking points will be awarded to all participants, but also an 8k prize pool - 4k cash for One Day and 4k prizes for Two Day podium finishers.
Invite your support crew to cheer you on and help you transport your gear along the course.
The race will have online live tracking, so all your family and supporters will be able to track your progress along the course.
The Baw Baw Resort and Walhalla are the prime tourist destinations, so we encourage you to take your family along to the event and see your achievements onsite.
The event is supported by Baw Baw Shire, Baw Baw Alpine Resort and Destination Gippsland, which will allow us to maintain affordable entry fees while maintaining a high level of organisation.
