Five Days Until Australia's Toughest Race Begins

Next Wednesday the 5th of August at 0900, 36 teams representing 10 different countries will set off on the start of Australia's toughest race, XPD Expedition Adventure race. These adventurers race non stop, day and night over a 650km course pushing themselves to the ultimate limits of human endurance. They must navigate, bike, hike and kayak through a course that is only revealed to them 24hours before the start.
This years race is hosted out of the Mercure in Townsville.They will kayak around tropical islands, trek over rain forested mountains and make their way through vast outback canyons during this epic event.
XPD is an international event on the Adventure Racing World Series (ARWS) calendar. The winners of this years race will win an entry into the World Championships, which will be staged at the end of the year in Brazil.

XPD is Australia's own expedition length adventure race. Teams of four competitors from around the globe trek, mountain bike, and kayak for five to ten days in this world renowned expedition. These adventurers race day and night over a 700km course pushing themselves to the ultimate limits of human endurance.
2015 marks the 8th edition of this race. XPD has visited the Tasmania, Flinders Ranges, Alpine NSW and Victoria, Cairns and Broken Hill. This year the race will be staged out of the Mercure in Townsville, QLD.
