Thousands Descend on Forrest for Otway Odyssey This Weekend

This weekend over 1,500 competitors and several thousand spectators are expected to descend on the Forrest region for The Otway Odyssey presented by Focus.

After close to an inch on the tracks last weekend, no rain is forecast between now and race day so conditions should be first class; Saturday’s weather is heading towards a top of 20 degrees with partly cloudy skies and a light southerly breeze, and on Sunday more sun is forecast with temperatures up to 24.

The addition of brand new races – the Great Otway Gravel Grind (the GOGG) 49km and 97km to the schedule of 100km, 50km, 30km and 10km mountain-bike races sees the Otway Odyssey grow to two days in 2017, making this iconic event inclusive of more riders.

It will be the 11th running of the Otway Odyssey and as always many of Australia’s elite riders will be racing, including defending champion Peta Mullens (Bendigo), 2016 runner-up Tasman Nankervis (21, Bendigo), 3 x World 24 Hour Solo MTB champion Jessica Douglas (Forrest), Former Tour de France yellow jersey wearer Phil Anderson, 24 hour solo single-speed World champion (2015) Scott Nicholas (Torquay), Steele Von Hoff, Adrian Jackson, Rebecca Locke and more.

• GOGG Big Ring 97km  (Sunday) – 8am race start
• GOGG Little Ring 49km (Sunday) – 9am race start
• Pioneer 10km (Sunday) – 9:45am race start
