Expedition Africa 2018 Namaqua West Coast – Africa is Calling YOU!

Along the South West Coast of Africa lies an unequalled adventure playground. From desolate plateaus to mountain top farming communities, it is an area boasting juicy citrus fruit, stunning vineyards and epic landscapes that stretch as far as your eyes could possibly see. 

The official launch for the World Series Adventure Race, announcing the dates for 2018, kicked off in pure 'Namaqua' style in July, featuring wines, cheeses and many delicacies for invited guests and sponsors to enjoy, at the Letsatsi Lodge, official venue host to Expedition Africa 2018, situated in Vanrhynsdorp.

What can the athletes expect from next year’s race?  “I do believe that the Namaqua West Coast will enable us to put together the most diverse route in the history of Expedition Africa. The 8th edition will be remembered by the fact that each of the 10 legs will have a different look and feel to it. The route will test the teams’ abilities, endurance and navigational skills, and will also involve a variety of different types of natural scenery. The area has a rugged coastline, unique semi- desert areas for challenging navigational treks and cycles, the world famous Cederberg Mountains for isolated mountain treks and a whole network of tidal rivers and dams. “It has it all….” – were the words of the race-director, Stephan Muller. 

“I was touched by the Namaqua West Coast hash tag of #findyourself and thought that there is no better message for our Expedition Africa. It should be an event that offers you an escape from your daily lifestyle.  After a week you will have “found yourself”.  It should be an event that touches your very soul.  “And if this is so, my heart will be smiling.”  These are the words from co-owner, Heidi Muller.

Entries for this adventure race of a lifetime opened on the 15th August 2017. Teams will stay in different lodgings which will be within walking distance from the Host resort.  As in all previous years, 4 nights’ accommodation is included in the entry fee. 

Dates: 18 - 28 May 2018

Entry fee: R 40 000 per team until 15 October 2017, thereafter R 44 000 per team.
