Salomon Partners With Skyline Traverse Mountain Run

Press Release / 17.12.2018

One of the world’s leading sports brands Salomon has partnered with Red Bull Defiance to support the single stage Skyline Traverse Mountain Run in Wanaka.

Salomon has signed on as the official naming right sponsor of the Salomon Skyline Traverse that will be held on Sunday 20thJanuary 2019 as part of the Red Bull Defiance weekend of adventure.

The event is a highlight on the New Zealand running calendar with the course travelling over iconic points around Wanaka. The 28km route starts in the Cardrona Valley with competitors traversing the ridge-lines of Mt Alpha and Mt Roy culminating with a run down to the Wanaka foreshore and Edgewater Resort finish line.

“This is a spectacular skyline run that attracts high profile racers like ultra-marathoner Ruth Croft from the West Coast who won last year’s event,” says race director Bex Law.

“We are thrilled to have Salomon on board for this single stage mountain run. They are the unquestionable leaders in the growing sport of trail running and their products are worn by world class athletes.”

Competitors entered in the Salomon Skyline Traverse will receive a new Salomon 2018 Soft Flask in their entry pack. The flexible and lightweight flasks compress when empty making them ideal for long distance running.

Salomon Outdoor account manager Angus Rodwell says the company is pleased to be partnering with the event.

“Being involved with Red Bull Defiance helps Salomon spread the wealth of technical knowledge we have accrued over many years to ensure that people have the right gear for the right event, from trail running to hiking and everything in between.”

He says there are plenty of new season’s Salomon products to suit competitors.

“The new Salomon Sense Pro 3 – with its low profile design, rugged grip and protective exterior, is the ideal shoe for any runner making their way across the high mountain terrain on the Salomon Skyline Traverse.”

“Equally our Sense Pro 3, Salomon Skin Pro 10 running vest will fit all the required gear for the run with the comfort of Salmon’s Sensifit technology. Additionally, the Bonatti Men’s or Lightning Women’s running jackets are light, waterproof and fully seam sealed making it an everyday, go-to adventure jacket.”

Salomon are providing prizes for the top three finishers in the female and male categories with prize vouchers to the value of $500, $300 and $200.

Entries for the Salomon Skyline Traverse remain open until the 16thJanuary 2019 with registration and finish hosted at the Red Bull Defiance race hub at Edgewater Resort.
