Fantastic Five Ahead of the Pack!

It's been a more than exciting day at ARC 2019. After a difficult mountain bike leg during the first night, the second day truly separated the main contenders from the rest of the field. Black Hill Salomon, USWE Adventure, Raidsadventure.fr, Team Hoka One One and Adventure-Trophy.pl have a healthy lead entering the second half of the race.
At the halfway point (approximately) the leading five teams were roughly three hours ahead of France's Team 400, the leaders of the hunting pack. Between the leading teams, however, there is no real difference.
Early in the morning French teams were in the lead, but soon after the last trekking stage on Velebit the Swedes took over. In fact, USWE Adventure led for better part of the day, just to be caught by the Czech Black Hill Salomon in the bike leg 7.
The second day offered everything adventure racing is about. Kayaking down the spectacular Zrmanja river canyon is fun even in its calmer sections, swimming to the checkpoint not so much. And by the end of the day everybody will have to find the source of the very same river. Which is obviously somewhere far away and uphill …
Still to come are many more challenges and don't forget, behind the leading five are many more teams capable of surprises. French teams 400 and Absolu Raid Occitanie are not a surprise in the top ten, but three Slovenian teams are in the mix as well. AR Team SLO (7th), Pustolovec Rajd (8th) and Adventure Valley (11th) came well prepared for ARC 2019.
Two teams out of 41, Italian team Nirvana and German OMM Nordisk had to withdraw and cut-offs are already in play for the slowest still in the race.
The time limit is 103 hours and teams will be redirected according to their times.
Fun fact: they still have not seen the most attractive parts of the race and finish. Don't miss the finish of ARC 2019, especially if your team is one of the five leaders. It is going to be close!
