The fifth edition of ÖTILLÖ Swimrun Cannes looks like it will be the race with the most entries ever. Today more than 620 racers are signed up and the record is 635 racers from 2019.

This is like a breath of fresh air after two very difficult years full of restrictions. Finally we can put on races as we should. The weather forecast looks like it will be a fantastic weekend for Swimrun racing.

On October 15th the City of Cannes in the South of France will act as stage for this showdown where the racers will be both experiencing wild nature and the beauty of the city. It is like a high- speed sightseeing trip. For some it is for the adventure, for some it is for the experience and for some it is to race hard. Nine teams from the World Series race will qualify to ÖTILLÖ, The Swimrun World Championship 2023.

World Champions on the start line

The current World Champions in all three categories are set to race in the World Series distance and it will be a challenge for the other teams to follow them. Hugo Tormento (FRA) & Max Andersson (SWE) who crushed the record at the 2022 World Championship in September will race hard to try to defend their Cannes win from 2021 and also to win their sixth consecutive race this season.

The Women’s Swimrun World Champions - Ulrika Eriksson & Helena Sivertsson (SWE) and the Mixed Swimrun World Champions - Desirée Andersson (SWE) racing with Alexis Charrier (FRA) will all race at the front of the pack, with racers representing more than 20 nations.

ÖTILLÖ Swimrun Cannes is the most prestigious race in France with many international racers and many of the best french racers, who are among the best in the world.

On Saturday there are two other distances as well. The Experience (8 km) and Sprint (13 km) distances are a little shorter than the 40 km World Series and have around 50% of the starting field.

The race day will have close to 650 racers in total, which is more than 20% more than in 2021.
