INDIA set to host the Namma Adventure Race 2.0 as part of ARWS Asia Series 2023

India kick starts the ARWS Asia Regional series for the year 2023 with the“Namma Adventure Race 2.0” hosted by NthAdventure.
This event is exclusive in many ways, as the organization has tied up with one of the top universities in India “Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE)” who become the FIRST university in India to be part of “The World’s Toughest Team Sport”. Also, this race is hosted in UDUPI the beautiful coastal town of Karnataka for the second edition and the Race Directors have set an entirely new course of 120km which will include kayaking, trail running, hiking, MTB, orienteering and some surprise local elements.
MAHE Pro Chancellor Dr. HS Bhallal says, “We are happy to be associated with a sport which aligns with the values of MAHE. By supporting such sports, we encourage our students to explore, learn and push their limits to learn life skills through Adventure Sports. Since the inception of MAHE, our students have proved excelled in various fields and adventure racing could also be something they may aspire to. We never know, MAHE may have future AR World Champions!. This is the time to showcase the sport to our students.”
MAHE Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M. D. Venkatesh who was the first person to say yes to MAHE Adventure Race said, “Sport is always an essential part of education and MAHE is focused to open various avenues. Looking at the Adventure Racing format, it reminds us of various challenges professionally and personally we tackle in day-to-day life. We welcome Adventure Racing to MAHE and wish every student can experience this sport. And as the Pro Chancellor mentioned, we might soon see our students evolving as champions in every field of sports.”
There are 2 categories, “Namma Adventure Race 2.0”, which is part of prestigious Adventure Racing World Series – Asia Region open to all Asian countries will be a 120KM (24-Hour) team of 4 race. For all the beginners there is the “MAHE Adventure Race” a 30KM race for teams of 2, which aims to introduce people to adventure racing.
Race Directors Ajita Madan and Sayeesha Kirani said: “We are super proud to be associated with India’s top university, MAHE. To grow the sport in the country and identify the young talent for international racing platforms we need the support from institutions like MAHE.
“Udupi, which is known for its rich history, hospitality, vast culture, cuisines, and amazing yet versatile landscapes, is perfectly suited for adventure racing, a team sport which is beyond just endurance.
“We are thankful to the District Administration and all the Departments who welcome Adventure Racing and have extended their support. We are happy to host India’s top Adventure Racing Teams, welcoming new teams and may be some international competition. We can’t wait to showcase the beauty of this sport to MAHE students, and to our national and international teams on the second edition of Namma AR.”
