The French Riviera presented itself at its best for this year's ÖTILLÖ Swimrun Cannes. Very warm and sunny weather, the biggest field in ÖTILLÖ history with almost 800 participants from 38 nations and a challenging and varied course through and around the beautiful City of Cannes made for the perfect finale to the 2023 ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Series season.

The weather conditions were calm and dry with air temperatures up to 30 degrees and a water temperature of around 22 degrees. The race course was very challenging: the athletes had to complete a total race distance of 41 km with 33 km of partly very technical trail running and 8 km of swimming. 129 teams and 44 solo racers completed 11 running sections and 11 swim sections in the World Series distance.

The reigning World Champions and serial ÖTILLÖ World Series winners Max Andersson and Hugo Tormento win the race in a time of 4:04:32. From the beginning, they were challenged hard by the duo of Matthieu Poullain and Alexandra Dumoulin and could only break away on the long uphill run two thirds into the race. It was their third win in a row together as a team in Cannes.

Hugo Tormento said after the race: "We had some really good competition at the beginning, those guys were so fast and it was really hard. We also broke two ropes in a row so it was a quite an adventure."

"I love this venue because the weather is usually very, very good but it is also a very fast course, so it means pushing the pace all the way", added Max Andersson.

Adriel Young and Amanda Nilsson showed another strong performance and win the mixed category in dominant fashion in a total time of 4:25:22.

Kristin Larsson (SWE) and Sabina Rapelli (SUI) started for the first time as a team and worked very well together to win the women's category in 4:45:26.

Nicolas Rigaux (FRA) wins the World Series in the Solo Mens category by just one second in a sprint finish over Sascha Vetter from Germany.

Kristel Rugemalira from Estonia wins the Solo Women's category in her first ever Swimrun race.
