Adrenaline will reach maximum levels in the coming days on the wild trails of the Carpathian Mountains! Top Riders from 10 countries and two continents are preparing to compete for the first edition of CARPATHIAN MTB EPIC, an event organized by MPG Romania and supported by Banca Transilvania and Gatorade. Between September 21 and 24, 2017, the Cheile Gradistei - Fundata Resort, from Brasov County, becomes the scene of a high quality mountain biking show. It's Wild, it's Rugged and it's EPIC.

The cyclists will fight to conquer the Carpathians during this 3-day stage race, over 157 kilometers of riding and 5,750 meters of climbing and technical trials waiting for them in the National Parks Bucegi and Piatra Craiului, with spectacular breath taking views. The event will officialy open on Thursday, September 21, at 10:00 AM, with the race package pick up, and a lot of activities will be available for riders and their supporters in the Race Village, set in the Cheile Gradistei – Fundata, an Olympic-level Resort. Then, at 04:30 PM, the Prologue will start, a 5 km qualifying race which is optional, to determine the contestants order on Stage 1.

The level of competition is high due to the presence of several international and national champions, among them Frédéric Gombert - France, Janka Keseg Števková and Matej Ulik - Slovakia, Lutz Baumgärtel and Florian Schön - Germany, Łukasz Klimaszewski - Poland, Márton Blazsó and Veronika Cseh - Hungary, Aneliya Karagyozyan - Bulgaria, Kristina Konvisarova - Ukraine and Maxim Ciumer - Republic of Moldova.  Romania will be represented by a series of cyclists already known in the local competitions, but also on the world stage: Lucian Logigan, Daniel Crista, Vlad Dascalu, Karina Bonta, Salome Bondor, Arpad Kelemen, Robert Dobai and Alexandru Stancu.

At the Start/Finish area, in the Race Village, the action has already begun. Dozens of cyclists are arriving from different corners of the country and across borders, eager to enjoy the natural beauty offered by this location in the heart of Romania's mountains. Tomorrow, at the start line there will be internationally ranked professional MTB cyclists alongside experienced as well as aspiring, avid community riders to test their skills at most.

The efforts of the fastest cyclists to conquer the Carpathians in this spectacular stage race will be rewarded with a generous prize pool of 12,540 Euro and products, whose total value reaches an estimated amount of 30,000 Euro, plus specially desgned medals. The winner of this super-stage competition in the Elite category, 19+ years, will receive a cash prize of 2,050 Euro, and also products offered by Bosch, GoldNutrition, Gatorade, Banca Transilvania, World Class, and the CARPATHIAN MTB EPIC 2017 trophy. To these are added the prizes that can be won after each stage of the contest.

Each person will have the opportunity to experience the excitement of the races together with the competitors because during the contest there will be Live broadcasts on Pro X - Sport.ro, Dolce TV and TVR HD. The TV and Live broadcast program can be found on the official page of the event – click here.  Real time information and live impressions from the Race Village you will find watching the Event’s social page and Riders Club official Facebook page.

The first edition of CARPATHIAN MTB EPIC is designed as a 3-day full-service stage race, „eat, sleep & ride” type, and it challenges riders to compete on some spectacular routes, in the Southern Carpathians, in one of the last genuinely wild regions in Europe.

The participants will benefit from complete race services at the start/finish area in the race village and on course, mixing hours of pleasant relaxation and great entertainment programme with the riding.  Another premiere is related to the cyclist's monitoring system. Every rider participating in the 4-day EPIC will have a tracker, so both organizers and guests will know where the athletes are, at any time.
