Former King of the Mountains Wins Stage 7
Press Release / 06.10.2017
After an easy day yesterday, day 7 included terrains where even the strongest cyclists are likely to do some pushing. Today's stage was beautiful, but hard. Most riders are relieved that tomorrow will be the final stage of this year’s epic adventure and are looking forward to returning home with their finisher jerseys and medals. Stage 7 took riders over 92.5 kms and 2,150 of climbing.
The race flagged off at Barot and the riders travelled through some gorgeous hamlets to reach the final finish point at Bir Billing- World’s highest paragliding spot.
The route entailed a maximum elevation of 2700 meters while the minimum elevation was 1290 metres. The stage called Into the wild featured a single track section of about 15kms starting from Badagram to Rajgunda and ending at Bir.
The riders will camp at Agriculture University, Palampur for the night and leave for Dharamshala tomorrow- which will be the last stage for the day
The riders not only toiled hard to reach the end but enjoyed the ride as well. This stage undoubtedly exposed the riders to the most vulnerable, raw and beautiful side of Himachal.
Cory Wallace, Winner of 2014 season and runner up for 2016 won the stage with highly technical route and 2 climbs with a maximum elevation of 2,700m.
