On June 16, 2019, the world’s toughest adventure race returns for its ninth edition. If you think you have what it takes to compete in this unique hike and fly adventure, now is the time to apply. Be quick though, the application phase stays open for just one more month and will close on August 31, 2018. To sign up for the opportunity to compete at Red Bull X-Alps 2019, simply fill out the application form on the website and submit your details.

With each race comes a new and exciting mix of international athletes from race rookies to seasoned veterans; and this could be your chance to join the adventure. Traveling only by foot and paraglider, you will battle through the Alps and go head to head along an entirely new route. The official athlete selection will then be announced on October 16, 2018.

Discussing the application process, race director Christoph Weber explains; "The selection of the athletes is extremely difficult and one of the most important aspects of the competition. It's not just about getting out there and flying. You need the strength of both body and mind to push yourself day after day, sometimes for as long as two weeks straight. Athletes with this level of drive and determination are the ones who make Red Bull X-Alps such an incredible story!"

See the full Facebook Live chat with race director Christoph Weber here. If you want to learn more about the race or be in with a shot of taking the title, head over to now and submit your application by August 31, 2018. Good luck - we’ll see you out there for another epic adventure!
About Red Bull X-Alps

Red Bull X-Alps 2019 will start June 16 and will be the ninth edition of the world’s toughest adventure race. Approximately 30 world-class athletes will go head to head in a grueling journey across the Alps, covering over 1,000km of Alpine terrain only by foot and paraglider. Along the way, they’ll stop at a currently undisclosed number of turnpoints in a handful of different countries. With each race comes an entirely new route, bringing even more action than the last.

Before the main event, a one day prologue race will see athletes jostle for position before a tense and excited audience. The top three finishers will earn themselves an additional Night Pass; allowing them to continue onwards through the mandatory rest period.

2017 was full of surprises with incredible performances from rookies and pros alike. With every single day came rocky ascents, dizzying flights and crucial, strategic decisions to be made. If the last edition was anything to go by, Red Bull X-Alps 2019 is set to be the most dramatic face-off of both new and seasoned talent that the world has ever seen. Who will stand strong in the face of adversity and conquer all to become the champion of Red Bull X-Alps 2019? We’ll soon find out!
