The PC12 Adventure Race is Put Back by a Month to May 31st

Twenty days prior to our PC12 Adventure Race and after a detailed analysis with the local and health authorities about the red alert declared by the Antioquia Government due to the high hospital occupancy and high peak of COVID infections, we have made the decision to postpone the race from MAY 31st to JUNE 7th of this year. Statistically this date is where the COVID cases are at their lowest, and hospital occupancy too.
It has not been an easy decision and we know that it affects not only us as the organization but also many of our registered teams, but we are convinced that it is the best decision at the moment.
Here is a summary of what was analyzed:
1. There is currently a high peak in COVID 19 infections, which has generated a hospital red alert in the Department of Antioquia, therefore presenting a capacity reduction of attention for any type of emergency or accident.
2. The authorities are taking up to date, different measures to contain the hospital emergency, such as the lockdowns on weekends, which does not allow us to have a definitive official outlook, generating uncertainty, improvisation, and last minute decision making. Although the measure currently runs until April 19th, they indicate that it is very possible that it will be extended.
3. Our main purpose as adventure racers and organizers is to preserve the life and integrity of our athletes, and for this we must guarantee that hospital assistance can be provided during the race, which is not possible at this time.
4. As responsible entrepreneurs and with the race being part of the Adventure Racing World Series (ARWS), where SUSTAINABILITY is one of our premises, we want to be consistent, empathetic and act with compassion in the current situation in our department.
We are proud to have your support as participant teams, sponsors and authorities with whom we have been working intensively in the organization of this event and we recognize that without your support this PC12, the race of your dreams would not be a reality.
