In perfect weather conditions, 4,122 starters ensured a grandiose cycling festival on Sunday at the 41st Ötztal Cycling Marathon. Six and a half hours after the first Canadian winner Jack Burke (winning time: 7:10:13,1 hours), the last finisher reached the finish line to thunderous applause from the more than 5,000 spectators. In the women's race, Catherine Rossmann from Germany triumphed in 8 hours 4 minutes and 34 seconds for the first time.

Dominik Salcher from Tyrol (AUT) overtook his fellow countrymen Alban Lakata and Daniel Federspiel shortly before the top of the final alpine pass to finish by a razor-thin winning margin over Alban Lakata (3rd place) in second place.

In the women's race, Catherine Rossmann from Germany triumphed in 8 hours 4 minutes and 34 seconds for the first time.  Samantha Arnaudo from Italy in second and Martha Maltha from the Netherlands in third complete the women's podium.

In this epic cycling marathon, the dream is to conquer the Alps': The race course covers 227 kilometers, leading from Sölden (Austria) over 4 Alpine passes (Kühtai saddle, Brenner pass, Jaufenpass and Timmelsjoch) to South Tyrol (ITA) and back again. A total of 3566 participants reached the finish line in Sölden.

The participants master incredible 5.500 meters of altitude. This year, next to thousands of road cycling enthusiasts, some VIPs were attempting to finish the demanding Ötztaler Cycle Marathon, among them two Ski Jumping World Champions from Austria, Martin Koch and Andreas Goldberger.
